As every year, Santa Claus was able to rely on strong support from Swiss Post employees during Advent last year. Swiss Post helped Santa to answer exactly 18’699 children’s letters. That’s a new record.
The majority of replies – 10’719 – were sent to Western Switzerland, 3,250 to Ticino and 2,688 to German-speaking Switzerland. 322 replies were sent to children abroad. The five-strong Swiss Post team supporting Santa in Chiasso went to great pains to reply even to letters with incomplete or incorrect sender details. As a result, over 96 percent or 17’971 of all children’s letters were answered along with a small present. The year before, Swiss Post received 18,386 letters for Santa and helped answer 17,686.
