Greyhound Modernizes IT Infrastructure to Provide More Pricing Options for Consumers and Optimize Operations

DALLAS (Dec. 9, 2014) – Greyhound Lines, the largest intercity bus operator in North America, today announced a new effort to modernize its IT infrastructure in order to unlock yield management, introduce dynamic pricing, enhance customer convenience and optimize loads throughout its network. The transformation is being implemented in partnership with Software AG (Frankfurt TecDAX: SOW).

The company introduced a ‘frictionless commerce’ system, which gives consumers access to the best fares available at any given time, and provides an easier online buying experience. It also enables Greyhound to drive a more customer-centric strategy, enabling the company to better understand and engage with consumers. Operationally, the technology will create a foundation for Greyhound to optimize its operations by conducting real-time analysis of routes and bus capacity, ensuring more efficient management of passenger loads and available buses in the system.

“This is the most important investment in IT we have ever made at Greyhound, as we work to integrate all of our business and system capabilities in a seamless fashion,” said Chris Boult, chief information officer, Greyhound Lines, Inc. “Once this is achieved, the real-time analysis will enable us to implement pricing and revenue-optimizing strategies based on a better understanding of our customers, delivering an enhanced and more personalized product to our riders when and where they want it.”
