Royal Mail reveals that the Welsh are the most romantic in Britain

(12 February 2015)Cardiff has been named as the most loved-up place in the UK in the Royal Mail’s League Table of Love.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, Royal Mail analysed mail volumes in its Mail Centres nationwide to identify the places that sent the most Valentine’s Day cards and letters in 2014.

Cupid’s arrow appears to have struck the residents of Cardiff and Newport who have been declared the most romantic in the UK, sending more Valentine’s Day post than anywhere else.

The Cardiff Mail Centre, which processes mail from the CF and NP postcode areas, saw the biggest increase in first class mail sent on the Thursday 13th February last year compared with the same day the week before.

In 2014 the Cardiff Mail Centre narrowly missed the top spot by coming in second.

Carlisle and Dumfries and Galloway (C and DG postcode areas), which topped the list last year, have dropped to fourth place.
